The first two albums involved quite some electronica
and therefor the songs got a very different sound when the band transported
them as a rock trio to the stage. CONVERTIBLE3 eventually became a band-album
with a live-music feel to it, and so the tunes sound similar, when Hans
Platzgumer, drummer Tom Wu and bassist Pollyester redo them live, replacing
the studio tricks with the raw energy of merely guitar/vocals, bass,
drums. No Electronica!

CONVERTIBLE:
The classic Power-Trio that doesn’t play your classic Rockmusic.
The Munich-based threesome, consisting of
Pollyester (the Russian bassplayer/vocalist), Tom Wu (the German drummer/vocalist)
and Hans Platzgumer (the Austrian Guitarist/Singer) knows how to combine
out-of-the-ordinary-songwriting with a charismatic live performance.
Until the Austro-American Grunge-Icons HP ZINKER split up in 1994, they
achieved to reach cult-status all over the Indie-world. They released
on labels like ‘Matador’, ‘Thrill Jockey’ or
‘Roughneck’ (‘Domino’s predecessor), were nominated
for a grammy once and shared stages with mates like the ‘Lemonheads’,
‘Sonic Youth’, ‘Nirvana’ or ‘Ween’
on countless tours.
Zinker-mastermind Hans Platzgumer (guitar/vocals) thereafter moved back
to good old Europe and kept busy with various electronic outputs and
gigs. He toured and released under different monikers such as Queen
Of Japan, Goldene Zitronen, Aura Anthropica, Cube & Sphere, HP.Stonji,
Shinto or E:Gum on labels like Lado, Disko B, Cheap, Playhouse or Klein,
and even published his first novel ‘Expedition’ in spring
2005.
After 2 studio albums featuring a lot of electronica, the band meanwhile
has become a solid rocking, charismatic live-act, diving
into deep psychedelic soundscapes, catching breath with touching melodies
and moving forward with upfront energy.
CONVERTIBLE’s first single "Your Pull Is Gone" topped
the Austrian Alternative Charts back in 2004. Their second album ‘Frailty
of Win – Strength of Defeat’ (‘MonkeyMusic’
) was referred to as the band’s “St. Peppers album”,
described as HP's best album since a decade, with fantastic songwriting
and outstanding production. In october 2007 Convertible 3 will be released
on CD, Vinyl and as Downloads, analogously being the band's White Album,
with hardly any electronica involved but rich with string sections,
grand pianos or ukeleles.
CONVERTIBLE:
Zusammen mit Pollyester (Bass) und Tom Wu (Schlagzeug) versteht es
Hans Platzgumer (HP Zinker, Queen Of Japan, Goldene Zitronen, etc
Domino/ThrillJockey/Matador) die Stücke der Studio-Alben CONVERTIBLEs
in mitreißenden Live-Versionen umzusetzen. Mit “seiner bislang
wohl beste Live-Band” steht ein Trio auf der Bühne, das epische,
psychedelische Sequenzen mit ergreifenden Melodien und roher Energie
kombiniert, sowie das außergewöhnliche
Songwriting mit einer charismatischen Live-Performance zu verbinden
weiß.
Bis sich die austro-amerikanische Grunge-Band HP ZINKER 1994 im Drogenrausch
auflöste, hatte sie Dank ihrer Alben auf Labels wie ‘Matador’,
‘Thrill Jockey’ oder ‘Roughneck’ (heute ‘Domino’),
einer Grammy-Nomminierung und unzähligen Auftritten mit Kollegen

Alben und Gigs unter Pseudonymen wie Aura Anthropica, Queen Of Japan,
Cube & Sphere, HP.Stonji, Shinto oder E:Gum auf Labels wie Lado,
Disko B, Cheap, Playhouse oder Klein von sich hören und veröffentlichte
2005 sogar seinen ersten Roman ‘Expedition’.
Die erste Single CONVERTIBLE's "Your Pull Is Gone" schaffte

im Januar 2006 auf ‘Monkey’ erschienene, hochgelobte zweite
Album ‘Frailty of Win – Strength of Defeat’ wurde
dank seines “fantastischen Songwritings” und der herausstechenden
Produktion bereits als das “St.Peppers-Album” der Band,
ja sogar als "das Beste einer Dekade" gehandelt.
Im Oktober 2007 wird dem zufolge mit Convertible 3 das 'White Album'
der Band erscheinen, auf CD, Vinyl und sämtlichen Downloadplattformen,
nahezu ohne jegliche Electronica produziert, dafür voller Streicherarrangements,
Flügel, Ukeleles und anderen Überraschungen.
